WHAT IS IN MY DOWNLOAD?

Your download consists of a zip file. Inside this zip file you will find Flash files (.swf) which are the whiteboard resources and Acrobat files (.pdf) containing important information.

WHAT IS A ZIP FILE AND HOW DO I OPEN ONE?

All of our downloads are 'ZIP' files.  ZIPs are are 'archives' - files that combine a group of resources in to one easy download. Zip files are a convenient way of sending large groups of files over the internet.  Some resources contain over 50 files. By using a zip file, you download one file instead of 50!

In order to access a ZIP file, go need unzipping software. Don't panic! This is probably already installed on your computer.  Such a program then ‘extracts’ the set of resources from the ZIP and puts them onto your computer for normal use. Try RIGHT clicking on a file. It may say 'Extract All,' 'Unzip here' - or a similar message.

We recommend using ‘FilZip’ (though other programs such as WinZip and WinRAR should be fine). The latest version of FilZip can be downloaded totally free from http://www.filzip.com/en/index.html

Extracting the files using FilZip

If you are using FilZip, you can easily unzip the individual resources from the ZIP that you downloaded from Planet Primary:

1. Find the ZIP file by browsing to the location you downloaded it to.
2. RIGHT-click on the file.
3. From the menu that appears, select ‘FilZip’ and then ‘Extract here’

4. You will see that the files are ‘extracted’ and placed alongside the ZIP on your computer.  They are now ready for inserting straight in to your whiteboard software!

WHAT IS A FLASH FILE AND HOW DO I USE ONE ON MY WHITEBOARD?

This is really easy - just email us if you have any problems whatsoever. All PP resources are flash files. This are interactive files which add multimedia and interactivity easily to your whiteboard. They also have only a small file size.

Most IWB software (such as Smartnotebook 9 or 10) supports flash. Simply choose 'Insert flash' or 'Insert Media' from your software menu and your Planet Primary resources will appear like magic. You can also drag files from the folder where they are stored directly on to your Smartnotebook page.

Is is possible to open individual flash files using a Flash Player (there are many free downloadable options such as this one,) or your favourite web browser. Another option is to insert flash into Powerpoint. We suggest using a tool called iSpring Free which is a great little add on for Powerpoint that allows you to easily insert flash (it also allows you to convert Powerpoint to Flash.) This tool works in versions of Powerpoint from 2003 to 2010.

For instructions on how to do this manually, try this guide for excellent instructions (Powerpoint 2003). This page gives instructions for Powerpoint 2007.

CAN I CHANGE THE BACKGROUND OF MY PLANET PRIMARY DOWNLOAD?

Sorry no - the background colour is fixed. However if you email us we can supply anything you require!

WHY IS MY FILE IS TOO BIG ON THE SCREEN?

All PP files are scaleable within your whiteboard software. We try to anticipate the approximate size you might require when we generate the files. If there is a standard size which you require, contact us and we can supply this.

Please contact us if you have any further questions whatsoever. Remember that we listen to feedback and are creating new versions of our products all the time.
